šŸ‘‹ Hello!

At Factorial, we’re building the operational backbone that helps companies run smoothly every single day, from tracking time and shifts, to managing contracts, onboarding, and org structures.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Operations Domain, working on products that +15000 companies rely on to manage their people accurately, fairly, and at scale.

This role is for engineers who enjoy complex domains, real constraints, and high ownership.

The Operations Domain at glance

Focuses on the core systems that keep day-to-day people operations running smoothly.

  • Boris Mikhaylov, Gaurav Prakash and Miguel LarraƱaga are the EM’s from Time, join them to keep shaping how employees track, plan, and take time, including time tracking, time off, and shift planning.

  • For Employee Lifecycle you will collaborate close to Hector Suarez and Beatriz Dominguez, focusing on how employees are structured and managed over time, from org setup and contracts to onboarding and offboarding.

šŸ’” What ā€œSeniorā€ Means at Factorial

At Factorial, being senior isn’t about titles or years of experience, it’s about mastery, judgment, and agency.

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Have enough technical depth to spot wrong or missing patterns, and propose better abstractions or domain design.

  • Keep a high quality bar, even under pressure, and naturally expect the same from the team.

  • Actively shape scope and solutions, always keeping the original user problem in mind.

  • Manage your own time effectively, finding the most valuable problems to work on without needing direction.

  • Think beyond your own tasks, improving how the whole team works.

  • Can lead a problem or incident end-to-end from discovery to resolution.

  • Know when to ask for help, and later turn those learnings into better standards and practices.

  • Push for collaboration, especially when things are unclear or ambiguous.

In short: you don’t wait, you move things forward.

šŸŽÆ The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll act as a product engineer with strong ownership, focusing on outcomes, not just delivery.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Owning and driving complex initiatives from idea šŸ’” to production šŸš€

  • Influencing requirements, technical decisions, and trade-offs early on

  • Writing and contributing to RFCs to shape team and domain decisions

  • Collaborating closely with Product and Design to solve real customer problems

  • Reviewing code daily and providing thoughtful feedback across the team

  • Mentoring junior engineers and helping them grow through example

  • Joining customer calls to deeply understand user pain points

  • Continuously improving the codebase, architecture, and team practices

You’ll help define quarterly goals and roadmaps, with special attention to technical health and long-term scalability.

We have a Career Path with a rubric framework where we define what is expected for each experience level and skill. This framework allows you to know at which level you're right now and what you need to keep growing. As we love transparency, our Career Path includes the salaries for each level and we share it during the first interview to make sure we're aligned.

For this senior-level position, the annual gross salary is 60.500€. This includes a base salary of 55.000€ and a variable pay of up to 5.500€ annually (paid quarterly), depending on the company's goals.

Your daily life with us

You’ll start with a 2 weeks onboarding period, where you will:

  1. You will be learning about Factorial, our product, our team, our clients

  2. Pair with each member of the team at least once, to see their current initiatives

  3. Solve low-stake bug tickets or quick wins

  4. Commit early and often thanks to our cloud dev environment

  5. Be fully integrated in the team’s rituals from day 1

You will be a product engineer, taking ownership of big initiatives, and being interested in the outcome, not just the output. About the outcome, you’ll also work with your team members to establish goals and plan a quarterly roadmap, putting special attention to the technical needs of our domain.

You will be involved in customer calls to learn about their pains & needs.

You will review code daily and get feedback on your own code at every pull request, from all team members, including juniors.

You will learn from the entire team, both on technical topics (performance, architecture…) and core skills, in an environment driven by engineering quality. You will also mentor junior team members and help them learn from your experience..
