At Factorial we're looking for a new Finance & Payroll Consultant for the Portuguese Market to help us support and scale our Consulting team to the next level. As part of the team in charge of delivering a world-class experience to our clients, you'll be in charge of supporting the implementation of our Payroll and Finance modules, ensuring a smooth adoption, and acting as a trusted advisor to our clients.

About the Role
You will support clients in Portugal throughout their implementation and adoption of Factorial’s Payroll and Finance modules. Your mission is to deeply understand their processes, ensure a smooth transition to our tools, and help them achieve maximum efficiency in payroll operations, expense management, and finance workflows.
You’ll join a growing multicultural consulting team across Payroll, Finance, and Talent—helping us scale the Portuguese market and shaping service packages that drive real, long-term value.
As a key subject-matter expert, you will provide strategic support to internal teams, implementation partners, and clients. One of your greatest challenges will be to ensure our product fully adapts to each customer's needs. You’ll become an expert in Portuguese payroll and finance processes, identify inefficiencies, detect product improvement opportunities, and act as a trusted advisor to clients.
What you'll do 📝
Payroll Consulting & Enablement
Support new clients in Portugal in implementing our payroll product via video calls and email until Factorial is fully set up in their organisation.
Guide clients through payroll configuration: working time management, integrations, employee master data, contract types (contratos de trabalho), and compliance workflows.
Ensure correct setup aligned with Segurança Social, IRS (retenção na fonte), and other statutory requirements.
Take a consultative approach to tailor payroll setup to each organisation’s needs.
Detect edge cases, propose solutions or workarounds, and escalate when necessary.
Finance Consulting & Enablement
Help clients implement and optimise Factorial’s Finance Management solutions across:
Expense management (gestão de despesas)
Approval workflows & internal finance policies
Procurement / Accounts Payable (compras / contas a pagar)
Financial reporting and workspace insights
Train finance teams, share best practices, and support process automation.
Design scalable finance & payroll service packages—from discovery to training to advisory.
Product Collaboration
Act as a bridge between clients and the Product team.
Share insights on Portuguese payroll requirements, including legal obligations, reporting needs, and recurring customer pain points.
Participate in testing, feedback, and feature validation for both Payroll and Finance domains.
Customer Partnership
Understand each client’s challenges and provide actionable recommendations.
Support clients in remaining compliant with Portuguese labour law (Código do Trabalho), tax requirements, and internal finance policies.
Help ensure readiness for audits and reporting obligations (e.g. submissions related to Segurança Social and tax authorities).
Work cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, and Support to ensure a smooth and aligned client journey.
Must-Have
Strong knowledge of Portuguese payroll processes, including:
Segurança Social contributions
IRS withholding (retenção na fonte)
Contract types and employee lifecycle
Collective agreements (contratos coletivos de trabalho)
Professional experience in finance operations or finance consulting (expenses, procurement, reporting, or similar).
Languages: Native-level Portuguese + fluent English.
Experience supporting clients, implementing software (SaaS/ERP), or consulting.
Analytical mindset with the ability to translate business processes into system configuration.
Fast learner: able to quickly master Factorial’s tools and adapt to product evolution.
Proactive, structured, and comfortable taking ownership end-to-end.
Nice-to-Have
Experience with Portuguese payroll tools (Primavera, PHC, Sage, etc.).
Experience with finance software or integrations (Business Central, Sage, Power BI…).
Background in HRIS, payroll, finance digitalisation, or process automation.
Experience designing or delivering scalable service packages.
